Time to Say “Good-Bye” to USA

Yes, it is time to say good-bye to US, my home for the last 10 years. We have decided to leave US for good by end of May. I will be joining Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu as Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical and Building Sciences by the third week of June.My wife Deepa will be joining as Assistant Professor in the same school in the School of Biosciences and Technologies.

I always believe that “change” is the only permanent thing in life and right now it is going to be a big “change’ in our life moving back to India. It is time to say Sayonara to US – the country that looked after me well when I came to US for my Masters, the country that helped me get two degrees and my wife a degree, the country where everything happens in a very systematic way unheard in India, the country where I never had to bribe anyone to make things happen, the country where my daughter was born. It is time to move on and use the skills I developed over the last 10 years in the field of water and wastewater treatment to improve the lives of people back in India.

All three of us – Deepa, Gayathri and me are looking forward to our new innings of our life in India!!!

All the best to your family, Brijesh. Vellore is a beautiful place. Have you been there before? I think you grew up in Kerala? So, you may face some more interesting cultural changes living in the neighboring state! Myself having stayed two years in Chennai and now visiting Kerala once a year, I notice so much differences in the two places. :) I will be eager to hear (read) your experiences.

Great decision!!

I am so happy that we've got someone who we know very close, has decided to go to India to serve her. I am sure it would inspire at least some to make the same decision. India needs more of her talented children to go back to her country and help her.

It is a very hard decision to take, when you have everything easy in US life, and you have doubts about a life in India after you've settled in US for 10 years.

We wont miss you, as we are sure that your presence would be felt through your blogs. Distance is no factor for separation now, thanks to internet.

Wish you a happy and fulfilling life in our mother land!!

Glad to know one more person is following that path. Good luck Brijesh.

I have lived in Chennai for 3 years before I came to US. So Vellore won’t be that difficult to adjust. I have gone to Vellore once before. Hopefully I will be able to write about my experiences in Vellore through my blog.

I am sure we will be keeping in touch with each other thanks to internet.

Will surely meet.

Hey Nair,
I heard this news before through one of our common friends, but your plan to depart struck me real hard only after I read your blog this morning.
Man, I'm gonna miss you and your family.
I have always admired your vision and values that is leading you. Even though you departing AZ is a loss for US,I am happy to know that this is another step in Scaling New Heights..Wishing you and your family the best of everything in every step as you scale the Grand Summit.

PS: Vadakkan Veera Kadha..Any plans of getting me that movie before your depart?? :-)
