The Quizzer in Dr Shashi Tharoor

I am dumbfound after seeing these videos. Dr Shashi Tharoor knowledge about the world is really amazing. Dr Shashi Tharoor participated as a contestant after inaugurating the new quiz competition “Rananganam” in Jai Hind TV being conducted by Dr Pradeep. Watch these videos and you will be astonished by the wealth of knowledge the MP from Trivandrum has.

Here is the first part of it. Skip the first four minutes as it deals with the inauguration of that program.

What ever be the topic of the quiz, Dr Shashi Tharoor not only has the correct answer but also has the knowledge to explain in detail about the answer.

Dr Shashi Tharoor answers the final question and wins 10 lakhs rupees that he donated to the contestants who take stage after him.

Incredible performance, right? Great to have such a person in Indian politics…

While the questions were of pretty average standard, which I guess most decent mallu quizzers will crack easily, what struck me was the that the format of the show is quite awful. The quizmaster GS Pradeep does not have a clue how to frame an interesting question. Basically he has mugged up a lot of facts and the show is just a self-promotion for him and no attempt has been made to make the quiz interesting, so he states a fact he thinks he knows completely and asks a "True" False" qn. He also gets several facts wrong such as "Franz" Ferdinand's name, mispronounces several words and agrees when Shashi Tharoor incorrectly states that Schweitzer's Nobel was in 62(it was actually in '52). Having said that, yes Tharoor's knowledge is far superior to any avg indian politician and even slightly better than an average well-read person ;-)

As a gold medalist in graduate studies and having work experience in key posts in U.N behind him Mr Tharoor's factual knowledge in international politics is quite good,no doubt.
But I can see the hypocrisy of self denigrating malayalee here applauding Tharoor for a below average quiz programme who hardly knows that 'charithram' is history and stammers in malayalam and still a representative of T'puram constituency(God save T'puram). On the other hand when Achuthanandan and Sreemathi teacher speaks stupid English you mocks at them.Isn't this the height of hypocrisy.....sayippine kanumbol kavaathu marakunna malayalee!!!!!

Tharoor's commitment to Kerala's people clearly showed up when he replied to some letter by Plachimada activists in Huffington post on why coca-cola is benign to the Plachimada people by giving employment to 400 people, and defending coca-cola with the arguments of a tenth class student. The impact on the local population by the caricinogenic substances given out by the company and the ecological impact caused by the company in Plachimada may be not something interesting to someone who resides in the states(aren't you?) and thinks that Kerala's welfare is IPL team and this pathetic quiz programme.

Request you to stop this meaningless celebrity worship.
Not sure whether the post will pass through moderation test.Anyway I also wish to tell that I enjoy your other posts...
