The fight between the Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and CPI (M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan took a turn for the worst with each accusing the other indirectly. Never before in the history of communist party have we ever seen such public mudslinging of this magnitude. I thought the comedy show would end temporarily when UDF and Congress lost power.
Here is the latest one from these never ending comedy shows. During the conclusion of the speech of Navakerala Yatra, Pinarayi Vijayan compared Achuthananthan to a wave in the sea that will have strength only if it is the party of the sea. What Pinarayi wanted to convey was that VS Achuthanandan could do all that because of the support from the party and he would be a big zero if he tries to defy the party.
Now a couple of days later in a written speech Achuthanandan delivered in a function of NRI malayalees he gave a punch back to Pinarayi calling him indirectly the “Gorbachov” of the Kerala CPI(M). He says that due to the action of Gorbachov even a lot of oceans had dried up punching Pinarayi in this face. He in his speech says that if the sun rises at midnight then the real face of lot of politicians will be exposed again pointing the finger at Pinarayi who is ninth accused in the Lavlin case filed by Central Bureau of Intelligence (CBI) in Kerala High Court. See this video that has the both Pinarayi’s and Achuthanthan’s comments.
V S Achuthanandan who has created an image as a fighter against corruption especially serving as the Opposition leader had his tongue checked to react against Pinarayi Vijayan. He was forced by the party to attend the concluding session of the Navakerala Yatra where he was forced to defend the party policy against Pinarayi Vijayan. See his speech in the Navakerala Yatra.
Pinarayi Vijayan is trying hard using the party machinery to create an image that the accusation against him is politically motivated. Pinarayi Vijayan these days even gets agitated during his press conferences as press media is one of the very few institutions that communist party could never to control completely in Kerala. Here is a press conference by Pinarayi Vijayan where he vents his anger towards the press.
We have not seen the end of it. Coming days we are going to see more action packed drama with Achuthanandan on one side and the entire Communist party on the other side. When these politicians fight among themselves to determine who will be the ultimate winner the losers will be the common man of Kerala who voted them to power.
